New Cogent Pipeline to Connect Processing Complex to GCX

Cogent Midstream said it plans to build a new 400 MMcf/d pipeline to deliver residue gas from its Big Lake Natural Gas Processing Complex in the Midland Basin to the Gulf Coast Express Pipeline (GCX).

The 25-mile, 20-inch pipeline is scheduled to begin service in the fourth quarter, when Cogent also plans to expand its natural gas processing capacity with the commissioning of a second cryogenic plant at the Big Lake complex in Regan County, Texas.

Cogent contracted with Honeywell in late 2018 to design and supply the 200 MMcf/d UOP Russell modular cryogenic plant with refrigeration and dehydration units. The plant will bring Coagent’s total processing capacity to 510 MMcf/d, the company said.

In addition to Kinder Morgan’s GCX Pipeline, Cogent’s new residue gas pipeline is expected to cross the Kinder Morgan-EagleClaw Permian Highway Pipeline and Targa Resources’ Whistler Pipeline. P&GJ
