Smith was honored with the 2018 Legend of Hydraulic Fracturing Award, presented to in recognition of his significant contributions to the field over a lifetime of work His recognition came at a recent meeting of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Hydraulic Fracturing Technical Conference (HFTC), held in The Woodlands, Texas.
