Union Gas Holds Binding Open Season

Canada’s Union Gas is holding a binding open season for incremental firm capacity of up to 650,000 GJ/d beginning in 2017 and an additional 550,000 GJ/d in 2018 along the following transportation paths: (a) Dawn to Parkway; (b) Dawn to Kirkwall; and (c) Kirkwall to Parkway.

The binding open season ran from Dec. 12, 2014 through Jan. 30 and offered firm access to the liquidity and diversity of the Dawn Hub in addition to access to Marcellus supplies from Dawn, Niagara and Chippawa. Customers in eastern Canada and the U.S. Northeast can access these supply points by aligning Union Gas transportation service with capacity on TransCanada and interconnecting systems in the U.S.

“Changing North American natural gas supply dynamics have increased market demand for transportation capacity on the Dawn to Parkway system,” said Mark Isherwood, vice president of business development – storage and transmission at Union Gas. “We plan to invest $1-2 billion between 2015 and 2018 to expand our Dawn to Parkway system to ensure gas consumers are well-positioned to access the security, diversity and affordability of supplies sourced at the Dawn Hub.”
