Tallgrass Pony Express Pipeline Begins Commercial Service

Tallgrass Energy Partners, LP reports that the Tallgrass Pony Express Pipeline, LLC crude oil pipeline project is complete and in commercial service.

Pony Express owns a 690-mile crude oil pipeline starting in Guernsey, WY and terminating in Cushing, OK with delivery points at Ponca City Refinery and Deeprock in Cushing. Upon completion of ongoing construction, Pony Express will also own a 66-mile lateral in northeast Colorado that will start in Weld County and interconnect with the Pony Express mainline just east of Sterling. The lateral is expected to be in service in the first half of 2015.

In other news, the company is considering expansion of its crude oil pipeline to transport production in areas around its existing system receipt points. These include the Denver-Julesburg Basin in northeast Colorado and the Niobrara and Codell formations located in northeast Colorado and southeast Wyoming.

Pony Express is also pursuing the expansion from Guernsey to receive additional Bakken Shale crude from its existing joint tariff partners and to accommodate growing Powder River Basin production.

The proposed expansion, which would be expected to be operational in the second half of 2016, involves construction of pipeline facilities to increase capacity of Pony Express by up to 400,000 bpd.
