Ceona Awards Welding Contract To PTL

Subsea construction contractor Ceona has entered into a three-year partnership agreement with Scottish welding contractor Pipeline Technique Ltd (PTL) for welding services and pipeline production management onboard the company’s flagship vessel, the Ceona Amazon.

The partnership will deliver a pipeline welding production system onboard the Ceona Amazon now under construction and on track to enter service in January 2015.

With this new build, Ceona will bring to the deepwater market a multi-functional vessel capable of operating in multiple pipelay mode installing both rigid/flexible pipe and umbilicals. At 199 meters long, the Ceona Amazon is equipped for heavy lifting with two deepwater cranes and has capacity to carry more than 9,000 tons of rigid pipe.

Also under the agreement, PTL will deliver full pipeline production services management, covering onshore engineering and offshore welding, as well as non-destructive testing of pipe onboard the Ceona Amazon. PTL will supply a crew of specialist welders to work on both carbon steel and exotic rigid pipes of between 4 and 16 inches in overall diameter.
