Trans Adriatic Pipeline Issues First Major Invitation To Tender For TAP

Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG has issued the first major Invitation to tender (ITT) for construction of the onshore section of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). The scope for the onshore pipeline contracts includes the engineering, procurement and construction of 760-km, 38-inch cross-country onshore pipeline on Greece and Albania. Companies invited to tender are international pipeline construction organizations, including from TAP’s host countries.

The entire TAP will be 870 km in length (Greece 545 km; Albania 211 km; Adriatic Sea 105 km; Italy 8 km). Its highest point will be 1,800 meters in Albania’s mountains while the lowest will be 820 meters beneath the sea.
Construction is planned to begin in 2016 and will be split into five lots (or sections) – three in Greece and two in Albania. Award of the contract for the onshore pipeline segment will be in the third quarter of 2015. The next invitation to tender that will be issued by TAP are the EPC for compressor stations in Greece and Albania, procurement of units for the compressor stations and procurement of large-diameter ball valves.
