Philippines Discussing Batman-2 Pipeline With International Contractors

State-run Philippine National Oil Company Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC) is talking with foreign companies regarding the proposed Bataan–Manila (Batman-2) pipeline.

In a regulatory filing, PNOC-EC said it is holding talks with China’s XinAo Gas, Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation, and PTT of Thailand for development of the Batman-2 gas pipeline that will traverse 150 km to link Bataan to Manila. The project also includes construction of a 35-km spur line (Batcave) to industrial areas in Rosario, Cavite province, and sub-transmission pipelines to serve potential gas users in the areas through which the pipeline passes.

The aim behind the project is to make gas from Malampaya, the country’s largest gas field, available to consumers in the industrial, commercial, transport and residential sectors of metropolitan Manila.
