Michels Wins First Contract For Keystone XL Pipeline

Michels Pipeline Construction, a division of Brownsville, WI-based Michels Corporation, has been awarded spreads 1-4 of TransCanada’s Keystone XL Gulf Coast Expansion Project.

Michels Pipeline Construction will install 371 miles of 36-inch pipe running from Payne County, OK to Angelina County, TX. Michels Directional Crossings will perform 19 directional drills required along the route.
Michels Pipeline Construction Director of Major Projects James P. Murphy will manage the entire project. When fully completed, the Keystone XL will span 1,661 miles from Hardisty, Alberta, Canada, to Nederland, TX.

A TransCanada spokesperson told P&GJ that although the company had awarded a contract to Michels, no construction will begin until the company receives its Presidential Permit from the Department of State.
