Transco Plans Mid-South Expansion

Williams’ Transco pipeline held an open season from July 16 to Aug. 19 for an expansion project designed to provide increased capacity on its Transco natural gas pipeline system to serve markets in the southeastern United States.

Williams’ proposed Mid-South expansion project will offer shippers the opportunity to subscribe to incremental year-round firm transportation service on Transco’s mainline from its Station 85 pool in Choctaw County, AL to delivery points as far north as Transco’s interconnection with Cardinal Pipeline Company in Rockingham County, NC.
“By the end of this year, Transco customers will have access to as much as an additional 3 Bcf/d of natural gas at Station 85,” said Phil Wright, president of Williams’ natural gas pipeline business. “This project connects abundant new supply basins to growing markets in the Southeast.”

The Mid-South expansion project is designed to provide up to 230,000 Dth/d of new capacity; it is anticipated to be available as early as September 2012, subject to FERC approval. The level of market interest will determine the cost and pipeline facilities required for the expansion.
