Distribution Contractors Association (DCA) President, Shepard T. Poole, president, The Hallen Construction Company, Island Park, NY, appointed Robert G. Darden as executive vice president.

Darden is assuming the position held by Dennis J. Kennedy who will retire Dec. 31. Kennedy has held the position as DCA executive vice president and COO since 1989. He will remain with the DCA as a consultant. Darden has 25 years of international-meeting management and association experience, most recently with Plano-based QuEST Forum as executive director.

The Tennessee Gas Association (TGA) has named its officers and board of directors for 2009/10 and the recipient of the 2009 Silver Flame award. New officers are: Patricia Morgan, general manager of Lewisburg Gas Department, president, Larry Buie, region manager of Atlanta Gas Light and Chattanooga Gas, first vice president; Randy Nipp, senior vice president of the Gas Division for Jackson Energy Authority, second vice president; Dan Hicks, director of administration for Middle Tennessee Natural Gas Utility District, secretary and treasurer.
The Silver Flame award recipient is Tommy Bible, general manager of Jefferson-Cocke County Utility District in Newport, TN. The Silver Flame is the Association’s most prestigious award and recognizes outstanding service to the state gas industry. Bible was the 2003-04 TGA president and has served on the TGA Board of Directors for 15 years as well as other TGA leadership roles.

The Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) awarded Noble Energy a 2008 Outstanding Oil and Gas Operations Award for environmental protection and safe operation in the Project Rulison area of the Piceance Basin. The award was presented by Harris Sherman, executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources and David Neslin, director of the COGCC, at the Colorado Oil & Gas Association Rocky Mountain Natural Gas Strategy Conference and Investment Forum on July 8.
