Caspian Pipeline Expansion Planned

The board of directors of Caspian Pipeline Consortium met in Moscow recently to discuss a planned expansion project that includes rehabilitation of five existing and construction of 10 additional pump stations (two in Kazakhstan and eight in the Russian Federation), six new storage tanks (100,000 cubic meters each) in addition to the existing four near Novorossiysk and replacement of an 88-km pipeline section in Kazakhstan with a larger diameter pipe. The total amount of investments is US$ 5.4 billion. All project work will be completed by yearend.
