New factory Part of ABBs Investment in Gulf Region

Special to Pipeline & Gas Journal

Power and automation technology giant ABB last month opened a new factory in northwest Houston that will build fully integrated analyzer shelters for downstream oil and gas industry customers. The new 40,000-square-foot Analytical Systems Integration Facility will manufacture integrated shelters containing analyzer systems that are designed to help oil refineries and petrochemical plants maximize product quality. The new facility is one of ABB’s many recent investments in the U.S. Gulf Region.

“This new facility is part of ABB’s continued expansion to serve our customers in this region and in the oil, gas and chemical industries, to provide them with the local resources, proven technology and access to global expertise they need to help achieve their production and system performance goals,” said John Quirke, Analytical Systems Integration site manager.

The facility will provide complete analytical solutions, from initial engineering through system manufacturing, testing, field start-up and support. Quirke said ABB combines best systems practices with stringent conformance to government environmental requirements, to produce continuous emissions monitoring systems that pass certification and meet plant analyzer and electrical requirements.

The team at the new facility will have access to ABB’s complete line of over 50 different analyzer products, including gas chromatographs, continuous liquid and gas analyzers, as well as Reid Vapor Pressure, TDL and FTIR analyzers for integration into larger systems as specified by their customers.

ABB has established local resources to serve its industry customers in the Gulf region, which is a major hub for energy, oil, gas, chemical and petrochemical industries in the United States, and has recently announced several new investments in the area.

Earlier this year, ABB held a ground-breaking ceremony for its new 75,000-square-foot level measurement factory in Baton Rouge, LA and opened a new Services office near Lake Charles. ABB also opened its new Automation and Power Center in Houston; the center showcases ABB’s full offering to help utility, industry and infrastructure companies increase their productivity and energy efficiency while maintaining the highest level safety and reliability.

The Analytical Systems Integration facility is part of ABB’s Measurement & Analytics business unit (www.abb.com/measurement) that is among the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of instrumentation and analyzers.
