Freeport LNG Gains Final FERC, DOE Approvals

Freeport LNG Expansion received final approvals for its proposed natural gas liquefaction and LNG export facility on Quintana Island, near Freeport, TX.

In November, FERC denied the request pending a rehearing. A day later, Freeport received a final authorization from the Department of Energy (DOE) to export to non-Free Trade Agreement countries. Under new DOE guidelines, the review of export applications will begin with FERC’s completed environmental review.

“We look forward to moving quickly toward financing close and start of construction,” said Chairman and CEO Michael Smith.
