The Rim Clamp and Ultra Rim Clamp are designed for use on out-of-round pipes that require a high level of accuracy in their alignment. Each clamp is available in a range of sizes to accommodate pipe sizes from 4” through 72”. The standard clamp is capable of reforming X45 Schedule 80 pipe with out-of-round conditions up to 2”. Pressure is applied by heavy duty jackscrews to precisely reform pipe. The ultra clamp is heftier, built to reform high tensile strength pipe X65 and above with up to 1” wall thickness with out-of-round conditions up to 2¼”. Modern materials allow this clamp to be lighter and stronger than its predecessors. Pre-treatment and powder coat finish provide corrosion resistance. 877-730-9149, sales@sawyermfg.com.

LS Industries
LS Industries’ structural blasters are built from rugged steel and alloy steel with welded construction and clean all manner of heavy materials at a continuous but variable rate. The blast stream maximizes coverage with an eight-bladed impeller mounted on a rotating drive shaft. The blasters feature hinge-mounted doors for easy operation. 316-265-7997, sales@lsindustries.com.

Circor Energy

To support and improve the decision process regarding when a pipeline is suitably clean for inspection, PECAT, a pigging-based inspection tool, can be sent through the line. The tool uses in-built patented sensor and data logging technology to measure the location and quantity of debris, as well as ovality, temperature and differential pressure. This data helps operators and contractors make informed decisions regarding the readiness of a line for an ILI. The data recorded can indicate whether there are significant quantities of wax left in the line, with readings of build-up on the internal pipe wall. www.circorenergy.com.

FLIR Systems
FLIR Systems, Inc. has introduced three new thermal cameras for optical gas detection: the FLIR G300a, G300pt and A6604. These cameras monitor gas pipelines and installations from safe distances. Each model contains a cooled indium antimonide (InSb) detector, which enhances the sensitivity of each camera to detect even the smallest gas emissions. The G300a and G300pt cameras have a resolution of 320×240 pixels, while the A6604 has a resolution of 640×512 pixels. Each camera can be controlled via Ethernet, or integrated into any TCP/IP network. They are also GEV/Genicam-compatible. Gases detected include benzene, ethanol, ethylbenzene, heptane, hexane, isoprene, methanol, MEK, MIBK, octane, pentane, 1-pentene, toluene, xylene, butane, ethane, methane, propane, ethylene and propylene. www.flir.com/gas.

Quorum Business Solutions
Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. has released version 7.0 of its Quorum Trading and Risk Management (QTRM) software. This version helps organizations with exposure to energy commodities improve operational efficiency, better manage exposures, and demonstrably improve control over operations. New features include methods to improve recoupment and resulting margins by automatically assigning costs, such as tariff charges and losses, ensure financial control and simplify recordkeeping by locking closed positions and automating the generation and tracking of prior period adjustments, and ensure tax compliance and save time by automating sales tax collection and reporting. info@qbsol.com, www.qbsol.com.

Nextteq
 width=
Nextteq’s VeriAir Flex manual-inflating sample bag has a patented design that allows an atmospheric grab sample to be collected without preparation, sampling pumps or other equipment. Simple, safe and made of durable multilayer foil, the bags can be reused and sent to a lab via air shipment, allowing for fast overnight delivery. When measuring gas or vapor concentrations with an analytical instrument or different detector tubes, multiple screening tests can be performed onsite with a single bag. Bags are available in two different 1-liter designs and a 5-liter design. www.nextteq.com.

A Digital Globe satellite captured this image of a pipeline fire in Syria, February 2012
The new DigitalGlobe Energy Suite includes online, subscription-based offerings available to enterprise oil and gas customers through Spatial on Demand, its cloud-based enterprise data management platform. Specific products include Basemap +Energy, an online globe tailored for energy customer accuracy, update, and historical needs and offering constantly updated 50 cm imagery with metadata; FirstLook +Energy, delivered through the disaster response subscription program and providing proactive initiation of satellite imagery of disaster situations to allow oil and gas customers to engage their response plans quickly; and Landscape +Energy, countrywide assessment data sets for new ventures and risk assessment with foundational GIS data for over 39 countries. www.digitalglobe.com.

Cortez Subsea
 width=
Cortez Subsea has been granted a UK patent for its Modular Pipelay System, a collaboration between Cortez Subsea and NOV Tuboscope Zap-Lok, making new shallow water pipelay technology available to the North Sea. Trials will begin in 2015. The system allows mechanically connected pipeline to be installed from a suitable offshore multipurpose DP vessel. It is designed to facilitate the storage, handling, connection and deployment of the pipeline in an S-lay configuration onto the seabed at a speed of three to five minutes per joint, for a daily installation rate of up to 5 kilometers. www.cortezsubsea.com.

Miller Electric
 width=
Miller’s new Big Blue 800 Duo Air Pak and Big Blue 800 Duo Pro dual-operator diesel-engine welder/generators offer an estimated fuel savings of 34% over two single-operator units. The revamped machines offer multioperator flexibility suited to areas with limited space. They provide 27,000 watts of generator power and up to 800 amps of weld power for a single operator or 400 amps each for two weld operators. Additional inverters can be plugged into the machines to create a multioperator work platform, with operators able to weld and get three-phase power at the same time. The multiprocess machines provide improved weld control to increase arc quality and optimize welding output. www.millerwelds.com.

Baumer Group
width= An example from the childhood days of mechanical pressure measurement: The Bourdon spring is clearly visible.
While technological innovation proceeds ever faster, a more than 160-year-old technology is still used for pressure measurement today. The Bourdon tube developed by Eugène Bourdon in 1849 is still the most common method for mechanical pressure measurement in the oil and gas industry. Bourdon tubes have different dimensions depending on the nominal sizes of the measuring device and the measuring range, and are manufactured from long stainless steel tubes in a bending machine. Welded to the connection piece of the measuring device at one end and to the tube end piece at the other end, the measuring systems are checked for leaks and undergo an overpressure cycle to eliminate tensions in the material. Then they are welded to the pressure gauge housing in an automated laser welding plant. www.baumer.com/bourdon.
