TAP Makes Progress On Pre-Qualifying Construction Suppliers

Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is continuing pre-qualification of potential suppliers for the construction of the 540-mile-long high pressure natural gas pipeline across Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, with landfall in Southern Italy.

Two compressor stations will be needed to transport 10 Bcm/year of natural gas along the entire pipeline route from east to west.

The scope for the contract will include engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of one compressor station in Albania near Fier (with fiscal metering, and one flow metering station in Albania in Bilisht), and one compressor station in Greece near Kipoi (with fiscal metering).

TAP’s EPC contractors will be responsible for hiring additional subcontractors to implement specific parts of the contract assignments. Construction of the compressor stations is planned for 2016-18.

This is the third pre-qualification and follows contract notices on construction of Albanian roads and bridges and onshore pipeline construction services in Greece and Albania.

The next contract notices will pre-qualify companies supplying turbo compressors and large-diameter valves.
