Energy Transfer Installs More Than 89,000 Horsepower Compressors In 2013

Energy Transfer Technologies (ETT) announced that 30,000 horsepower of Dual Drive CA Series natural gas compression has been installed at two natural gas processing plants in Texas, bringing the total amount of Dual Drive compression installed in 2013 to more than 89,000 horsepower.

ETT recently installed three 5,000 horsepower Dual Drive compressors at Energy Transfer Partners’ (ETP) Godley, TX Processing Plant. Three additional 5,000 horsepower Dual Drive compressors were installed at Regency Energy Partners’ Red Bluff Processing Plant.

The Dual Drive compression system features patented technology using two drivers that can both independently power the compressor. The CA Series features an Ariel compressor driven by either a Caterpillar natural gas engine or an electric motor.

The installation at ETP’s Godley Processing Plant marks the second installment of Dual Drive compressors, bringing the total number of Dual Drives at the facility to 10, with a total of 25,750 horsepower of Dual Drive compression. The 700 MMcf/d Godley Processing Plant, located in Godley, serves the Barnett Shale. Regency’s Red Bluff Processing Plant is a 200 MMcf/d cryogenic processing plant located in West Texas, serving the Permian Basin.
