Honeywell To Provide Gas Processing For FPSOs

UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, has been contracted by PNBV, a subsidiary of Petrobras, to supply UOP Separex™ membrane systems to process natural gas aboard four Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.

The vessels will process natural gas extracted from Petrobras’ Lula pre-salt oil reserves, one of the largest and most significant oil discoveries in recent years.

Honeywell’s membrane systems will be installed aboard the FPSOs to remove carbon dioxide and water from 7 MMscm/d of natural gas. Honeywell’s UOP announced a similar project with Petrobras for eight FPSO units to be operated in Brazil’s Santos basin oil fields.

In addition to providing Separex technology, Honeywell’s UOP will provide ongoing offshore technical support and staff training for the project, which is expected to start up throughout 2016 and 2017.
