Kenya Looking To New Pipelines

Kenya relies on imported fuel as there is no local production. It relies on an existing 14-inch pipeline that runs from Mombasa to Eldoret and has been in use since 1978.

The line is insufficient to meet growing demand in Kenya and landlocked countries like Uganda and Rwanda. Kenya Pipeline Company Limited (KPC) plans to build a pipeline from Mombasa to Nairobi to complement and replace the existing petroleum products pipeline. KPC would build a multi-product pipeline from Mombasa to Nairobi (450 km) to meet petroleum products demand for the eastern Africa region through 2044.
