Dyna Torque On The March Worldwide

For 13 years, Dyna Torque Technologies, Inc. of Houston has worked diligently to establish the ultimate global turnkey pipeline service. Andrew Scherfenberg, president of Dyna Torque, began with a redesign of the pipe-facing machines (PFMs) that hadn’t seen a significant upgrade in 23 years. The new design streamlined pipe size changes and included the patented “boss” connectors that eliminate hydraulic spillage.

Dyna Torque’s next step was the development of the LoneStar Automated Welding System. LoneStar is an advanced orbital automatic pipe-welding system designed to modernize traditional welding techniques and processes by integrating the latest in software development and microprocessor technologies with innovative device design to offer a compelling digital welding solution

The latest step was the acquisition of a majority interest in Numax Ltd. of Invergordon, Scotland. Though a relative newcomer to the energy industry, its management team brings years of experience to the Dyna Torque organization. The team, comprised of Andrew Scherfenberg, Stuart Charles Sinclair, Eddie Maclellan, Dejan Medanic, Mike Farrell, and Jose Macias, combines more than 150 years of managing specialized turnkey operations. Their expertise includes specialty welding, non-destructive testing/examination, field joint coating, pipe handling and project management.

The Dyna Torque/Numax partnership is already at work on numerous projects including a major 42-inch gas pipeline north of Port Harcourt, Nigeria with an alliance partner, Allied Pipeline Services Limited (APSL) of Houston. Fouad Solomon, president of APSL, set the groundwork for a turnkey package including pipeline construction equipment, AUT inspection and field joint coating services and the welding technology and management package of Dyna Torque/Numax. Allied Mechanical Pipeline Services – Nigeria (AMPS), APSL’s local content division in Africa, is expanding these turnkey services throughout the African energy market for future projects.

Additional worldwide projects are utilizing manual, semi-automatic, and automated welding technology supplied by Dyna Torque. All welding personnel are trained in PGMAW, SST, RMD, GTAW, and GSFCAW on all material grades including carbon steel to X120, stainless steel, inconel clad, duplex, super duplex, titanium and 13% chrome.

A strategic alliance with DMI International of Tulsa, OK allows Dyna Torque to offer worldwide pipeline contractors a full range of pipeline equipment and in-house manufacturing capability. DMI’s vast rental fleet of pipeline construction equipment in excess of 1,000 units is a major contributor to the turnkey process. DMI International’s extensive fabrication and machine shop operates 24 hours a day, six days a week, performing to the requirements of domestic and global pipeline contractors.

Scherfenberg notes, “The Numax pipeline contracting expertise, coupled with the manufacturing resources of DMI International, provides an unmatched fit with our strategy of providing premium turnkey pipeline services domestically and internationally.”

Eddie Maclellan, Numax Limited Managing Director, adds, “Being part of Dyna Torque Technologies, Inc. opens up some very exciting opportunities for Numax. Over the next couple of years we will progressively strengthen our combined organization through organic growth and strategic acquisition in our pursuit and vision to be the full services welding partner of choice to clients worldwide.”

Dyna Torque/Numax, DMI International, APSL, AMPS and L3 Tigal Engineering Services Ltd. are industry leaders in partial and complete turnkey pipeline services with facilities in the U.S., Brazil, Scotland, Malaysia, Australia, Holland and soon a welder training facility in Nigeria.
