Rezoning Opens Route For Ruby Pipeline Project

The Cache County Council has approved rezoning of land from agricultural and forest/recreation to the utility corridor overlay zone to make way for El Paso’s $3 billion Ruby Natural Gas Pipeline in southern Utah.

The proposed 42-inch pipeline will cover a distance of 18 miles across Cache County, running south of Avon and near the Scare Canyon area. Construction of the 675-mile Ruby Pipeline is scheduled to start in 2010 and come online by March 2011. The pipeline will begin in Opal, WY before traveling through Utah, Nevada, and ending in Oregon.
