Gazproms Mission For Far East Gas Transmission

Gazprom has approved preliminary proposals to implement an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to Asia-Pacific countries as part of the Eastern Gas Program.

The scheme stipulates gas supply for the Eastern Siberian and Far Eastern regions and provides for a wide usage of liquefied hydrocarbon, LNG and piped natural gas. In addition, the company is continuing talks with Asia-Pacific companies and credit institutions regarding natural gas supplies from Russia and possible mechanisms of investment attraction for new projects in the region.

Gazprom said that the 502-km Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transmission system is a top priority of the Eastern Gas Program and work is under way to supply gas starting in mid 2011. As part of the Eastern Gas Program, Gazprom is developing concept proposals aimed at creating processing capacities in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
