Contractors Complete Eastern Market Pipeline Expansion

Work on Columbia Gas Transmission LLC’s Eastern Market Expansion project in Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia is complete.

MEC Construction, Bridgeport, WV; Bi-Con Services, Derwent, OH; LA Pipeline Construction, Belpre, OH; and Chapman Corporation, Washington, PA completed the project in time for an April 1 start-up.

The project required pipeline loops and expansions to compression and storage networks to provide an incremental 97,050 Dth/d of storage deliverability and associated firm pipeline transportation capacity to local gas distribution company customers in Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Additions of 12,280 horsepower at West Virginia compressor stations; 15 miles of pipeline looping at various locations in Virginia and West Virginia, and added storage at the Crawford Storage facility in Ohio were included.

The project represents investments in infrastructure of $175 million to service the growing eastern and mid-Atlantic markets.
