The Offshore Technology Conference Celebrates 50 Years
This year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is celebrating 50 years since its first conference at NRG Park (formerly Reliant Park) in Houston.
This year’s event, April 30 through May 3, brings energy professionals together for global sharing of technology, expertise, products and best practices. OTC brings together industry leaders, investors, buyers and entrepreneurs to develop markets and business partnerships. The OTC is the largest global event for the oil and gas sector and features over 2,000 exhibitors and attendees from across the globe.
OTC promises access to leading-edge technical information, the industry’s largest equipment exhibition, and valuable new professional contacts from around the world. Its large international participation provides opportunities and enlists numerous sponsors who work cooperatively to develop the technical program.
In addition to Celebrating 50 years of OTC, the program will cover the state of the industry, and what is on the horizon. OTC’s awards luncheon will recognize the Distinguished Achievement Award recipients, raise funds for the 2018 beneficiary and provide an excellent opportunity for industry leaders to network with colleagues from around the world.
The conference will also recognize Brian Skeels with the Distinguished Achievement Award for his extraordinary accomplishments in pioneering new subsea completions in record water depths and for the development of new tieback connections that have set and redefined industry standards.
The Heritage Award will be presented to Cesar Del Vecchio for his contribution to the safe and economic development of deepwater floating systems by establishing, proving, and gaining worldwide acceptance for the use of polyester mooring systems.
OTC will also recognize Tom Sifferman with a special citation, based on his lifetime of significant contributions to the advancement of production enhancement, complex rheology mitigation, and chemical flow assurance of difficult-to-handle reservoir fluids.
Shell and SBM Offshore will be presented the OTC Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition of the successful development of the world’s deepest oil and gas project, the Stones field, using a leased FPSO, an industry-first pairing of a steel lazy wave riser system with the largest disconnectable buoy turret mooring system, and an artificial lift system designed for 15,000 psi.
