CDI

CDI introduced the SoniTrack XLR, an acoustic geophone pipeline pig tracking system that includes a computer-controlled audio amplifier. This allows an operator to easily listen for pigs moving within a pipeline over several miles. In addition to industry-standard headphone and AUX outputs, SoniTrack XLR includes a built-in, digitally tuned FM transmitter for easy wireless broadcast to any number of surrounding vehicles or radios. The device has waterproof connections and enclosures and comes with the receiver, wide temperature geophone probe, headphones, AUX cable, cigarette lighter, 12-VDC power cable, as well as a Pelican brand carrying/shipment case. www.pigging.com

United Electric Controls

United Electric Controls offers a wireless gas detector that can reduce the cost of added leak-monitoring points by more than 50%. The Vanguard detector communicates through WirelessHART technology, which is currently the industry’s dominant nonproprietary wireless communication protocol. Vanguard’s field-interchangeable gas sensor modules detect methane (CH4), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or carbon monoxide (CO). Data such as gas concentration, battery life and calibration are transmitted from the detector and integrated seamlessly with existing supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) or asset management (AMS) systems. Signals travel via WirelessHART to the gateway and commonly used Modbus and Ethernet communications. www.ueonline.com

Ralston Instruments

Ralston Instruments introduced the ControlPak, the first manual pressure controller developed for calibrating pressure instruments with compressed gas in the field. It features a large, pressure-balancing piston for precise, fingertip control of pressure, along with a tough, tactical case that protects the controls and makes it easy to transport to any test site. With a pressure range of 0.03 psi (200 kPa) to 3,000 psi (20 MPa), the ControlPak allows the testing of multiple devices in a single setup, including differential and static calibration, even at very low pressures. The fine-adjust piston, fill, balance and vent valves are clearly labeled and intuitively arranged in the unit, which also includes storage space for hoses, adapters and accessories. www.ralstoninst.com

Weldcote

Weldcote introduced its line of copper-coated mild steel filler metal for general welding applications. The new ER70S-6 wire is available in spools for metal inert gas (MIG) welding applications and cut lengths for tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding applications. It produces optimum flow and a consistent welding arc, which diminishes weld spatter and offers an improved bead finish. The new wire, which contains higher levels of silicon than other standard grades of MIG wire, provides added tolerance against rust and scale while offering high deposit strength. The spools are covered with Rust-X copper shield paper wrap to protect against corrosion and extend shelf life, then shrink-wrapped before shipping in a heavy-duty box. Spools are available in 2-, 11-, 33-, and 44-pound (0.9-, 5-, 15-, and 20-kg) sizes. A 550-pound (249-kg) drum is also available. www.weldcotemetals.com

Exact Tools

Exact Tools launched its portable Pro Series 360 pipe-cutting tools with models 280 and 450 to follow. Standard features include a 2200-watt, 120-volt motor that can cut wall thicknesses of 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) in steel and up to 2 inches (50.8 mm) in plastics. A laser indicator light for precision cutting, an improved adjustment mechanism for straight cutting and an overload protection “traffic light” systems are included. The equipment is lightweight and easily portable for cutting cast- and ductile-iron, steel, stainless steel and plastics. www.exacttools.com

Juniper

Juniper Systems offers the Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet, now certified for use within hazardous locations (Hazloc). This certification allows the devices to be used safely in Class I, II and III, Division 2 environments, where explosive gases, liquids, vapors, dust or fibers may be present. Mesa 3 Hazloc devices can run Windows 10 and feature a quad-core Intel processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB of flash storage and an IP68 rating. The devices meet testing requirements for MIL-STD-810G. www.unipersys.com

Koike

Koike Aronson Ransome offers the Cricket-II, a new welding manipulator for use with submerged arc, tungsten inert gas (TIG) and metal inert gas (MIG) applications. It is equipped with a lift speed of 20 inches (508 mm) per minute, and a variable speed-powered reach option offers adjustable speeds from 3 to 120 inches (76.2 to 3,048 mm) per minute, accommodating a load capacity of 500 pounds (227 kg). With NEMA-12 electrical enclosures, the Cricket-II is designed with built-in protection from foreign debris, dust and water infiltration. It also comes with a mast-rotation option, which allows the operator to swing the boom out of the work area or to work between two stations with one manipulator. Other options include travel cars, cross slides, digital speed controls and self-standing bases. www.koike.com
