NEB Approves Vantage Pipeline Project

The National Energy Board has approved the Vantage Pipeline Project submitted by Vantage Pipeline Canada ULC, formerly Vantage Pipeline Canada Inc.

The $240 million project will carry liquid ethane from Hess Corporation’s natural gas processing plant near Tioga, ND through Saskatchewan to interconnect with the Alberta ethane gathering system near Empress, AB. The liquid ethane transported by the pipeline will be used by Alberta’s petrochemical industry.

The Canadian portion would involve the construction and operation of 578 km of 273-mm OD steel pipeline, from the Canada-U.S. border near Beaubier, Saskatchewan to the AEGS near Empress, AB. The pipeline route is 573 km in Saskatchewan and 4.5 km in Alberta. Vantage has routed the pipeline so that it will be within or alongside existing pipelines and road right-of-way for 503 km.
